Head of Governance & Integrity

We are looking for an experienced and credible governance and integrity leader to strengthen standards, accountability and participant welfare across the game. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead governance development across England Netball’s volunteer network and provide strategic and operational oversight across safeguarding and welfare, disciplinary and complaints processes, data protection and information governance. You will line manage the Safeguarding & Welfare Manager and work closely with colleagues, volunteer leaders, the Executive Team, the Board and external partners to turn policy, regulation and risk into clear, proportionate and effective practice.

You will:

• Lead the development of governance standards, guidance, training and self-assessment tools for Regions, Counties, Leagues and Clubs
• Build the confidence and capability of volunteer leaders, helping local organisations operate safely, fairly and effectively
• Oversee safeguarding and welfare frameworks, including line management of the Safeguarding & Welfare Manager
• Lead the operational management of disciplinary and complaints matters, ensuring cases are handled fairly, proportionately and efficiently.
• Act as England Netball’s operational lead for data protection and information governance, including UK GDPR compliance, subject access requests and data breach management.
• Provide clear assurance reporting to the Executive Team and Board on standards, risks, trends and improvement actions.
• Represent England Netball with external agencies, partners and sector forums, sharing learning and promoting good practice across the game.

You will bring substantial senior-level experience in governance, integrity, compliance, legal, regulatory or sports administration, together with a strong record of advising senior decision-makers and improving complex frameworks. You will understand how to apply good governance proportionately in a federated or volunteer-led environment and be confident translating legislation, policy and risk into practical processes, guidance and learning.

Calm, credible and solutions-focused, you will combine independence of judgement with a collaborative style. You will be comfortable handling sensitive and complex matters, influencing without relying on authority and building trusted relationships with staff, volunteers and partners. Experience in sport is welcome but not essential; relevant experience from membership bodies, charities, regulators, professional associations or other federated organisations would be highly valued.

Salary is circa £55,000 pro rata per annum, dependent on experience
